I haven't drawn in a couple of weeks, the tip of my brush pen has definitely gotten bigger and evolved a deviant mind of it's own since the last time i used it... maybe my hands are getting smaller? At the mo i'm writing and researching my comic, there might be someone who looks a bit like this in it, i haven't quite finished dressing my characters yet

First proper day off, and already i'm bored out of my mind..! I think i'll try and get back to sketching  for a few days, been neglecting that of late with all the finished work we've been doing, then i'm continuing with the comic, and i'll try and have a few paintings going on the side.
Also, now that i'm finished college and not stuck indoors all the time, i hereby decree that it can now get sunny!
And - final ever episode of Lost in 5 DAYS..!! I'm excited and terrified.

Another painting...

...would you believe! Ariel again, this is actually pretty small only around a4 size. Apologies for the shitty photo, it would fit in my scanner, but it's gone 7 in the morning and i can't be arsed. I'm pretty fucked now, just coming up to 48 hours awake and working, i'm going to bed...

....although there's probably not much point since i have to be up in a couple of hours!

*Edit: Slighty changed a few wee things, smoothed it out. Much better!

Blast from the (very recent) past

You might think this image looks familiar, and you'd be right, it's the cover for my comic i posted last week. But no i haven't, in a desperate last-minute frenzy of panic and delerium, resorted to reposting stuff i've already done...! This is the same comp, painted in acrylic. Cos these paintings are about the comic too.
I modded the previous painting slightly too (it's impossible to tell the difference).

New acrylic painting of Ariel (from the comic). I haven't painted in ages, and occasionally while doing this i felt like i'd never painted before in my life... Been up all night, i was thinking about going to bed but i have more work to do so i'm gona stay up and see how far i get with it!

Ariel, Sylvia Plath

Cover for the comic inspired by the poem, barely even remember doing it at around 5/6am this morning during one of those strange, prolonged sessions... So slow on the bike this morning i was being overtaken by people walking

7am?!! Balls... but it's not Monday until I go to bed and wake up

I added the text digitally on this, but i'll do it by hand on the originals eventually. Also added the text to the previous pages. Listening to the brilliant Ricky Gervais/Steve Merchant/Karl Pilkington podcasts and radio shows, it's a good way to work! I'm going to start listening to audio books and plays when i'm working from now on, music can be a bit distracting sometimes

The best part about comics is making up the word sound effects, in this case "wok"

Another comic page, looking at what i've already put up the story looks fairly all over the place.... almost as if i......... don't know... what..... i'm.............. doing...............
Nah, it's just cos the pages are out of order! In fairness the story is a little cryptic, though not really, but there's a lot of allegory and symbolism... it'll make more sense the more pages i finish.

Also i edited the previous page, making urgent and crucial changes that are more than likely invisible to the human eye... but at least i'll sleep better tonight

Another page of the comic sans text, i'm leaving that particular treat till last.. It will make more/less sense then. I'm loving that ink i got in A4, really nice and black but flows well too. I'm ruining all my brushes though cos i'm too lazy to get up and clean the ink out of them regularly

*Edit- a few things on this were bugging me, so i changed them... as you can clearly see, it now looks drastically different

Ah, the old "I should have stuff up most days for the next couple of weeks at least" trick, obviously i should have realised that saying something like that would guarantee me no chance of posting anything for at least three weeks... I've been in the throes of what can only be described as a scanning crisis, among other things, also i've been pencilling out several pages before starting to ink so i haven't had much finished stuff to put up here.
Anyway, i'm going to tempt fate and definitively state that i'll definitely have more work up over the weekend, definitely definitely. Guaranteed free tomatoes. Nothing can possibly go wrong!

My comic is coming along, i have so many ideas at the moment, things are shooting off in all kinds of directions, that it's becoming a bit of a struggle ordering and condensing everything down, but i suppose it's a good problem to have..! Very slow and very strange week last week, so i'm only getting around to any drawing now. I think (hope) it will read lucidly when it's done.. I've been immersing myself in Sylvia Plath's poetry the past few days too and that's definitely having a big influence. I should have stuff up most days for the next couple of weeks at least (pages will be out of order btw)

Ah, the mysterious gibberish that you discover in your phone on a Sunday...

I found this intriguing line written in the notes in my phone today - "We can only marry them. Fuck Darwin". I don't know what it means or how it got there, but it sounds like something Ferg would say..! So in an attempt to unravel the mysteries of this obscure enigma, an interpretation of what might have happened..

Altogether now-

We had to illustrate a Bob Dylan lyric and i picked Golden Loom, i'm not a big Bob Dylan fan but this song is nice enough. I think it's a b-side or something. Also my first time using gouache, takes a bit of getting used to! I like it's sexy opacity, but i'm not too hot on it's watercolourey properties, i'm exceptionally hopeless at watercolours
